Palace eye Newcastles Diame

Palace eye Newcastle's Diame

13 March 2019 - 03:44

According to reports from Daily Star, Newcastle United’s Mohamed Diame could be moving to Crystal Palace as his contract ends this summer. Diame’s situation is being closely monitored by Palace. His current deal is set to expire this summer, however a clause in his contract suggests a 12 month extension could be on the cards.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • 8 games remain for Newcastle this season and if Diame starts a minimum of 3 games, the clause is triggered and the contract is extended for 12 months. There are many suitors for Diame. The Senegalese midfielder is also linked to Galatasaray and Besiktas. He has also attracted interest from clubs of Spain and Italy.

The 31-year-old hasn’t featured for Newcastle since January thanks to the emergence of Sean Longstaff. An injury to Longstaff should pave a way back for Diame into the starting lineup. Diame has featured a total of 24 times for Newcastle this season. Diame has always felt loved at the club and would certainly be happy to extend the contract.

Palace meanwhile will be hoping to secure Diame on a free transfer as a player of his qualities is rare to find. Diame’s qualities suit the physical and aggressive style adopted by Palace.
