Ronaldo better than Best

Ronaldo better than Best

20 March 2008 - 15:32

Cristiano Ronaldo betters George Best's record and helps United take all three points in the home match.

  • Chelsea plan shock swoop for Sporting CP star
  • Chelsea have clear stance on signing Victor Osimhen
  • Manchester United won against Bolton 2-0 and Ronaldo made the win comfortable scoring both of United's goals. In the process, he overtook United legend George Best's total of 32 goals in the '67-'68 season.

The Portugese attacking winger has taken his tally to a marvellous 33 goals and Sir Alex Ferugson described this as a great achievement no one else in the world could do. "It speaks volumes for the boy's ability", said he.

Sir Alex had made Ronaldo captain the side resting Scholes, Giggs and Rooney. He said that for a long time Cristiano was looking for that kind of responsibility. "Not everyone wants to be captain but he is comfortable, he wants to do the job and he carries the mantle very well. His second goal was a marvellous strike."
