Christian Eriksen demands Tottenham exit

03 July 2019 - 06:27

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has told the club that he is planning a move this summer, with a transfer to Spain his likely destination. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are long-term admirers of the Danish international, but it is understood German giants Bayern Munich are also in the race to sign the coveted playmaker.

  • The unsettled Eriksen has refused to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane, leaving Tottenham club chairman Daniel Levy frustrated that he can not tie the player down to a fresh contract and now facing the likely reality that the midfielder is leaving the club.

With Eriksen's deal approaching expiry, Spurs will accept a bid of around £70 million for the Danish international, and the majority of that transfer will be performance-related.

Eriksen has been a loyal servant to Spurs since his arrival from Ajax, but reportedly decided after Tottenham's failure to win the Champions League last season that it would be time for a fresh challenge and move elsewhere. Eriksen is pursuing a contract worth in excess of 300,000 euros per week.
