Aurier set for Spurs departure

Serge Aurier allowed to leave Tottenham

07 July 2019 - 05:07

Tottenham defender Serge Aurier has been informed that he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and placed on the transfer list, according to a report from the Mirror on Sunday morning. The Ivory Coast international, who arrived at Spurs in a £23 million deal from Paris St Germain in 2017, has been unable to force his way into the first-team on a regular basis due to the impressive form of Kieran Trippier.

  • The 5 foot 9 right-back has been linked with a return to France, with Marseille and Lille both ready to spend up to £18 million to secure the 26-year-old defender's signature. Aurier has only played in 25 games for Spurs since his arrival from PSG and is unlikely to make much of an impact in the first-team next year, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to rebuild his squad as Tottenham search for their first silverware under the Argentine coach.

Aurier, who played in only 8 Premier League games during the 2018/19 season, has asked his agent to help secure a move away from North London this summer.
