Chelsea have confirmed that midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been rewarded with a fresh five-year contract following an impressive 2018/19 season with the club.
Loftus-Cheek was one of the Blues' standout performers during the backend of the previous campaign and he has now earned a long-term deal for his efforts.
"I'm really happy and pleased that I get to stay here for another five years. It's the place where I've grown up playing and hopefully I'll be playing here for a lot longer," he told the club's official website.
Loftus-Cheek was previously on a £60,000-a-week package with the Blues but he has more than doubled his salary with the extension with The Telegraph stating that he could earn upto £150,000-a-week.
The England international is currently out of action as a result of an Achilles tendon rupture and that is expected to rule him out of action for the opening half of the 2019/2020 campaign.
Aside from Loftus-Cheek, the Blues are also making progress towards a new contract for Callum Hudson-Odoi and reports have suggested that he could pen a long-term contract in the near future.
