Frank Lampard urges Chelsea attacker to sign new deal

Lampard urges Callum Hudson-Odoi to pen new Blues deal

Frank Lampard urges Chelsea attacker to sign new deal

16 July 2019 - 18:37

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged young attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi to commit his long-term future to the west London side.

  • Tottenham planning to beat Chelsea to English striker?
  • Man Utd handed injury boost ahead of Burnley game

  • The 18-year-old has just 12 months left on his current deal with the Blues and so far, he has not shown the intention of extending his stay beyond that period.

Lampard has previously stated that Hudson-Odoi can evolve into a world-class player while remaining with the club and he has now reiterated that he would prefer the teenage attacker to stay put.

"With Callum, of course, I want him to sign [a new deal] and stay here. I said that before I came here - just talking generally - and I said it when I first got here," he told Goal.com in the lead up to the Kawasaki Frontale friendly.

Hudson-Odoi was the subject of multiple bids from Bayern Munich during the winter transfer window and the Bavarian giants seem to have revived their pursuit with a fresh £45m bid this month.

Still, the Blues are clear with the stance that Hudson-Odoi won't be leaving the club and they are hopeful that the England international will eventually pen an extension.

Hudson-Odoi is currently going through the rehabilitation phase after an Achilles tendon rupture and he may not return to first-team action until mid-September.
