Nabil Fekir has flown in to Spain today to discuss his proposed transfer to La Liga side Real Betis. The Lyon attacker, who has been linked with transfers to Liverpool and Barcelona in recent seasons, will depart Lyon for Betis in a 30 million euro transfer switch.
The contract of Fekir at Lyon was due to expire in 2020, thus leaving Lyon in the position where they had to sell the French international for a cut-price fee. Fekir had also been linked with a switch to Napoli and Roma, but instead as decided to transfer to Spain in what some have labelled as one of the surprise transfers of the 2019/20 transfer window and as a major coup for Betis.
Fekir will earn a reported 9 million euros a year at his new club and will sign a contract with Betis until 2025.
Fekir will arrive in Spain as a replacement for Giovani Lo Celso, who is expected to move to a Premier League club in this transfer window, with Tottenham believed to be in pole position to secure his transfer.
