Rugani to Arsenal?

Arsenal looking into deal for Juventus defender

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani as they seek to strengthen the heart of the backline.

  • The north London side are on the cusp of signing William Saliba from Saint-Etienne but the 18-year-old is expected to rejoin the French side on loan for the forthcoming season.

As a result, the club have been fancied to pursue another centre-back for the immediate need and TMW claims that Rugani has re-emerged as a target for the side.

Over the past few years, Rugani has struggled to command a regular role with the presence of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, and it is indicated that he may now prefer a fresh challenge with the big-money arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.

Arsenal are currently working on a limited budget for the summer and any proposal for the Italian may involve a season-long loan agreement with the option to buy.

Rugani has been with the Bianconeri since the summer of 2013. He has made just 87 appearances and has largely acted as the back-up option for the central defensive duties.
