Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been given the opportunity to resurrect his footballing career after making the short-term loan move to Burnley.

  • Drinkwater failed to make a single league appearance for the Blues over the course of the previous campaign and it became clear that his position may not change after new boss Frank Lampard dropped him for the final two pre-season friendlies.

As such, he was widely touted to pursue a fresh challenge away from the west London giants and the Clarets have won the race to secure his services on a temporary move until January 6.

"It was a bit of a complicated time at Chelsea, but I see this as a positive move and I'm looking forward to getting going," he was quoted as saying by Burnley's official website.

Aside from Drinkwater, the likes of Davide Zappacosta, Michy Batshuayi and Tiemoue Bakayoko have also been associated with potential moves away from the club with the transfer window still open in other top European leagues.
