Chelsea could reportedly make an attempt to re-sign Nathan Ake from Bournemouth in January after witnessing the departure of David Luiz to Arsenal.
Luiz made the shock move to the Gunners before the transfer deadline yesterday and that has reduced the Blues' defensive depth at the heart of the backline.
According to The Telegraph, the west London giants stand a good chance of wiping out their transfer ban by the New Year, provided they are successful with their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The same publication claims that the club are keeping an eye on Ake, who has transformed his career since making the move to Bournemouth from Stamford Bridge two years ago.
Ake was bought by the Cherries for £20m in the summer of 2017, and reports indicate that the Capital outfit have the option to re-sign him for around twice the value.
Meanwhile, Wilfried Zaha remains another target on the Blues' radar for the winter transfer window and they could be prepared to break their transfer record to pursue him from Crystal Palace.Â
