David de Gea's future with Manchester United in doubt?

11 August 2019 - 19:10

David de Gea's future at Manchester United continues to hang in the balance with the Spaniard yet to commit to a new long-term contract at the club.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Spain international was recently deemed to have been offered with a £375,000-a-week deal and it was anticipated that the 28-year-old would happily extend his Red Devils stay on those terms.

However, according to The Mirror, that does not appear the case and the Red Devils are yet to find the breakthrough in terms of extending De Gea's contract beyond the summer of 2020.

The same publication suggests that the player's entourage are continuing to hold negotiations with the Red Devils board and the shot-stopper is said to want a basic package close to the £400,000-a-week which Alexis Sanchez is earning.

De Gea produced a couple of impressive saves during the Premier League opener against Frank Lampard's Chelsea on Sunday where Manchester United registered a comfortable 4-0 triumph despite making a shaky start.
