Philippe Coutinho to stay put at Barcelona

Coutinho will wait until January before considering Barca exit

Philippe Coutinho to stay put at Barcelona

11 August 2019 - 19:19

Former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has decided to stay put with Barcelona beyond this summer's transfer window despite the widespread interest in his signature.

  • Man Utd handed double injury boost for Arsenal game
  • Arsenal to offload three graduates this summer?

  • The Brazilian had been heavily linked with a loan move to the Premier League with Tottehnam Hotspur before the English transfer deadline but he decided to decline their advances.

The 27-year-old has since been associated with a big-money switch to Paris Saint-Germain but Marca claims that the attacker is prepared to wait until January before assessing his options.

Coutinho has struggled to make a strong impression in the Spanish La Liga over the past year and reports have indicated that his gametime may reduce with the summer arrival of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

Still, it appears that he is willing to fight for his position with the Spanish champions and the next four-and-a-half months may help him decide whether he remains in the plans of manager Ernesto Valverde.
