Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Mason Mount after the youngster scored his maiden goal for the side during the 1-1 league draw against Leicester City.

  • The 20-year-old found the net in the seventh minute of the encounter after he was able to dispossess Wilfred Ndidi in the opposition ranks before slotting home the opening goal.

However, that was not sufficient to guide the side towards the victory line after the Foxes came back with a strong second half performance where Ndidi redeemed himself with the leveller.

As such, Lampard was disappointed with the eventual outcome of the game, but he nonetheless praised the efforts of Mount, who was the standout performer for the side.

"Great off the ball and energy to close people down and then the quality to finish it. In those opening periods he could have almost scored two more goals. He will get better and better as he’s 20 years of age," he said.

Chelsea are currently just outside of the drop zone with just one point attained from their opening two matches. Next up, they are scheduled to tackle newly-promoted Norwich City on the road.
