Frank Lampard delivers injury update on Mount and Kante

20 September 2019 - 19:37

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has provided an injury update on Mason Mount and N'Golo Kante ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Mount sustained an ankle problem following a strong challenge from Valencia's Francis Coquelin in the midweek Champions League game and he has since missed training with the club.

Speaking ahead of the Reds clash, Lampard said that Mount has yet to recover from the contact injury and his involvement will depend on whether he can start running in the next 24 hours.

Elsewhere, Kante has provided a boost for the Blues after returning to first-team training after an entire month but Lampard is unsure whether the Frenchman is fit enough to make the matchday squad on Sunday.

Kante had one of his best games in the Blues shirt during the European Super Cup clash against Liverpool last month but Lampard may not risk him for the upcoming clash unless he is fully fit following an ankle sprain.
