Benitez linked with Barcelona

27 March 2008 - 21:45

There are reports emanating from Spain that Rafa Benitez is being lined up to replace Frank Rijkaard at Barcelona. Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Real Madrid too are all reportedly considering a move for the Liverpool boss.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Benitez has never had the full confidence of the Liverpool board during his tenure, and there are reports that his lack of backing in the transfer market could see the Spaniard leave the club.

Frank Rijkaard has already been told that a La Liga championship is the priority, and should this not be achieved the Dutchman could be looking for a new job.

The Dutch coach is already concerned that Jose Mourinho was approached about a potential move to Barcelona earlier in the season.
