Christian Eriksen has reportedly made the decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the New Year after declining to sign a new contract.

  • The Dane was heavily linked with a move away from Spurs during the summer with both Real Madrid and Manchester United credited with an interest.

However, Eriksen declined the chance to join a fellow Premier League rival while Los Blancos were reluctant to meet Spurs' £60m valuation, considering he had already entered the final year of his Spurs contract.

According to Marca, the former Ajax graduate has decided that he wants to leave the north London giants at the turn of the year and hence, the club will look to sanction his sale when the transfer window reopens.

Eriksen is said to hold the preference to play in the Spanish capital but it is unclear whether Los Blancos or Atletico Madrid will consider an approach for his services in January.

Eriksen has remained a regular under Mauricio Pochettino despite his current situation. He has made 11 appearances with five of them coming from the starting lineup.
