Arsenal coach Unai Emery, who faces increasing pressure to keep his job at the Gunners, has slammed the referee Mike Dean in yesterday's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United. The Gunners manager Emery believes that decisions did not go Arsenal's way.
Emery felt that a challenge on Sokratis early on in the game should have been a penalty and a hefty tackle on Bukayo Saka later on should have seen Arsenal awarded a spot kick.
Arsenal were dominant in the game over Sheffield United but were unable to break their opponent's stubborn defensive resistance and eventually slumped to defeat.
“[The penalty] is a very clear one with Sokratis, it’s very clear,” the manager said. “I don’t know if the [Saka incident] was a penalty or not, no penalty?
“I think a yellow card is very hard for that action but I accepted that but when we are working with VAR, the penalty against Sokratis – this is for review.
“This is the action to review because it’s clear. We need to accept it and continue.
“We did not deserve to lose and we conceded a lot of corners in the first half and they scored in one action.”
