Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised midfielder Fred after the 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in their Premier League match last weekend. Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford helped United to an important three points.

  • “He set us off today with his midfield play, we won the ball, had to get after them.” said Solskjaer. “Propper and [Dale] Stephens, we couldn’t let them get on the ball and Fred was maybe the catalyst.” He added.

Fred joined United last season for £52 million but had a very slow start to his career at the Old Trafford. The Brazilian just scored one goal and one assist in 25 matches in all competitions during the 2018-19 season.

The 26-year-old has played more often recently due to the absence of Paul Pogba, who is still sidelined. Fred has played the full 90 minutes of his last five Premier League matches and it can be assumed that he will be playing more minutes in upcoming matches.

After the win over Brighton, Manchester United are now in the 7th place on the Premier League table with 16 points after playing 12 matches.
