West Ham boss rues injuries

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley believes the outcome of the weekend's match against Sunderland summed up his sides season. The Hammers have been dealt injury blows all season, and Fredrik Ljungberg, Carlton Cole and John Pantsil all picked up knocks at the Stadium of Light.

  • “I think today probably sums up what has happened to us, the injuries. 17 fit men we had here today and we lose two or three and go down to 10 men - it's been a long season,” Curbishley told Sky Sports.

"It would have been a battling point in the end and I think we'd have been delighted with that but it's a cruel game sometimes. Sunderland in their position couldn't have wished for more.

“Now so they have got a lot to play for. We have got to regroup, we have got a bit of a break and then they come thick and fast again but I can't tell you who I've got fit and available for the next game."
