Inter Milan are reportedly reluctant to meet the contract demands of Olivier Giroud, who is considering a move away from Chelsea in the New Year.
The Frenchman is currently regarded as the third-choice striker behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi at Stamford Bridge and he is likely to push for a mid-season exit from the Blues.
Inter have been touted as the preferred destination for the striker in recent weeks but Gazzetta dello Sport claims that a deal could be in jeopardy due to Giroud's reluctance to lower his wage demands.
The former Arsenal man is apparently reluctant to take a paycut on his current wages while he is said to demand a two-and-a-year contract instead of the 18-month option presented by the Nerazzurri.
Giroud has remained a regular with France despite his limited gametime with the Blues but he is aware that his failure to earn more minutes at the club level could cost him a berth for the European Championship finals next summer.
