Best Fixtures to Look forward to Over the Festive Period

22 December 2019 - 22:08

There are several excellent Premier League fixtures to look forward to over the festive period. However, there is one in particular in terms of the title race which stands out and that's the meeting between Leicester City and Liverpool.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Prior to this match, Leicester City will have played the defending champions Manchester City away from home and the result of that game may have an impact on this one. If the Foxes win that match, they will believe they are genuine title contenders this season and their confidence will be very high entering the game. Liverpool on the other hand have been playing in the FIFA World Club Cup in Qatar and travel back just a few days before this match.

Leicester City have been very good defensively this season whereas Liverpool have not been as strong in that department as they were at the end of the previous campaign. Nonetheless, Liverpool remain very strong in attack and this is a match which could see goals at both ends of the pitch.

Moving onto Friday the 27th of December and there is a great game to look forward to between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City. Wolves hold the upper hand over Manchester City this season having already defeated them away from home in the Premier League and will be looking to complete the double over Pep Guardiola’s team.

With the Europa League group stage complete, Wolves have enjoyed a quiet week in the build up to the festive period which is only going to help in their preparation for this match. Manchester City know they cannot afford to keep dropping points if they are to close the gap on the leaders, making this another must-win game. Wolves took points off Manchester City in this fixture last season and could do so again in what would be another blow to the Citizen’s chances of retaining their title.

On Sunday the 29th of December we have a London derby to enjoy between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta has recently been appointed as the new manager of Arsenal in an attempt to salvage any hope they have of finishing in the top four this season. Chelsea are currently in a contest with Tottenham Hotspur and possibly Manchester United for the 4th Champions League qualifying position.

Will Arteta have had much time on the training pitch to promote his methods to the Arsenal squad and if so, can he guide them to what would be a massive win over their London rivals? If you fancy having a bet, you can find a wide range of top bookmakers listed on betting24.fi.

Onto New Year's Day and it is another big match involving the race for the top four as Arsenal are once again in the spotlight as they host Manchester United. The Red Devils are hovering around fourth place and know a win in this match could signal the end of any hopes the Gunners have of pipping the Red Devils to the final Champions League qualifying spot.
