Barcelona eyeing shock move for Arsenal striker?

21 January 2020 - 15:28

Barcelona are reportedly plotting a surprise move to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal following the long-term injury setback for Luis Suarez.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • Suarez has been the go-to man for the Blaugrana in the striker's role for the past five-and-a-half years but he is unavailable for most of the second half of the season after undergoing a knee surgery.

As a result, new boss Quique Setien has set his sights on pursuing a new marksman and Mundo Deportivo claims that Aubameyang is high on their radar of targets this month.

Aubameyang has recently dismissed speculation over his future by stating his commitment towards the Gunners but he has yet to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2021.

Despite this, the north London side will likely stick with their captain until the summer at the least and reports claim that the Blaugrana have Valencia's Rodrigo as a possible alternative to the Gabon international.

Arsenal are scheduled to face fourth-placed Chelsea in tonight's Premier League clash on the road. A win in the derby will reduce their gap to the Blues to seven points with 14 games to play.
