Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn has opened up about his dream debut against Manchester City in Premier League, last night.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The new entrant to the Spurs’ squad made it to Jose Mourinho’s starting line up last night, and perhaps it ended as his dream debut.

The 22-year-old scored the opener against the Cityzens, beating Ederson through a perfectly timed volley in the 63rd minute. Spurs would win the game 2-0 in the end, with Son Heung-Min also making it to the score sheet.

Following the impressive win, Bergwijn opened about his impressive debut. He said (h/t Evening Standard)

"It is a dream to make my debut here in the Premier League and to score is fantastic.

"We know it was going to be a hard game but we had to work as a team, but I thought we did well and I was delighted to get the goal.

He also added that his teammates helped him get rid of the big match temperament.

"It is normal when you play against Manchester City, but everybody just told me to do my thing and that gave me confidence."

Mourinho also heaped praise on the ex-PSV star’s dream debut stating his goal as icing on the cake.

The North London club are currently fifth in the Premier League table trailing Chelsea by four points.
