Arsenal receive double defensive boost ahead of Newcastle clash

14 February 2020 - 20:21

Arsenal have received a double fitness boost on the defensive front ahead of the forthcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Gunners have been hampered by multiple injury concerns for their players this season and the defensive department has mostly been affected by the setbacks.

However, there has been an improvement in the situation over the past few months and it has now been confirmed that both Bukayo Saka and Sead Kolasinac are available after their respective injury concerns.

Kolasinac has been out of action for a month with a thigh strain but he was able to return to training during the warm-weather camp in Dubai, as confirmed by the club's official website.

Similarly, Saka, who has been playing in Kolasinac's absence at left-back, is available for selection after overcoming the minor knock to his knee sustained while playing against Burnley.

Apart from the duo, Reiss Nelson is another player, who should make the matchday squad against the Magpies after recovering from his hamstring injury. The Gunners are currently 10 points adrift of the top four in the league standings.
