Kante out with adductor injury

Frank Lampard provides fresh injury update on N'Golo Kante

18 February 2020 - 16:13

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has dropped a worrying injury update on midfielder N'Golo Kante following the club's Premier League clash against Manchester United.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The Frenchman sustained an injury within the opening 10 minutes of the encounter and he was thereafter substituted with Mason Mount taking his place for the rest of the game.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat to United, Lampard revealed that Kante had picked up an adductor injury which could keep him out of action for a while, he told Chelsea TV: "It’s an abductor injury. We’ll have to assess it, scan it, but it doesn’t look great."

Kante has endured a tough campaign with the west London side and he has already been sidelined with knee, adductor and hamstring injuries during the course of the campaign.

With the current setback, the Blues will definitely miss his presence in the centre of the park and they have a testing Premier League game this weekend with Tottenham Hotspur making the trip to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have only a two-point advantage over sixth-placed Sheffield United and a defeat to Spurs could see them drop outside of the Champions League spots for the first time since September.
