Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make an offer of £74m in order to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli during the summer.
The centre-back has been linked with a Premier League move in recent year but none of the teams have managed to meet Napoli's £100m price tag.
However, the Serie A side seem willing to accept a reduced fee this summer with the coronavirus pandemic and the possibility of missing out on next season's Champions League.
According to Repubblica, the Naples outfit have turned down multiple bids from the Premier League for Koulibaly in the past but they have now changed their transfer stance.
The same publication cites that United are leading the likes of Manchester City in the player's pursuit and they are planning to tempt Napoli with a £74m bid for Koulibaly.
United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains a huge admirer of Koulibaly. The Norwegian regards the Senegalese in the same level as Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are currently the regular choices at the heart of the United defence but the latter could drop down the pecking order, if Koulibaly makes the move to Old Trafford.
