Newcastle United have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal during the summer.
The 32-year-old has been a key figure for the Blaugrana this season and he has registered six goals and three assists from 31 appearances in all competitions.
However, his future remains in doubt with his contract expiring in 14 months's time and Mundo Deportivo claims that the Chilean could be heading to the Premier League.
It is added that the Magpies could hold the advantage, suppose they were to complete the takeover and appoint ex-Juventus boss Max Allegri as their new head coach.
The Tyneside outfit are currently on the cusp of changing ownership with PCP Capitals backed by Saudi's Public Investment Fund, having agreed to meet Mike Ashley's £300m asking price.
The move is expected to be made official by the Premier League by next month and there are reports suggesting that the new owners could go on a mega-spending spree in the next transfer window.
