Magpies open Danny Rose contract talks with Spurs

Newcastle United in contract talks for Tottenham Hotspur defender

01 June 2020 - 20:45

Newcastle United have reportedly opened negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur over extending the loan contract of Danny Rose until the end of the season.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Bournemouth star
  • Atletico Madrid planning shock move for Chelsea star
  • Rose joined the Magpies on a temporary basis in the January transfer window and he was able to make six appearances for the club in all competitions before the coronavirus shutdown.

According to Sky Sports News, the Tyneside outfit are now keen to prolong the left-back's stay until the end of the campaign and there is the possibility of them negotiating the option to buy.

Rose currently has 13 months remaining on his contract with Spurs and he has previously mentioned that chairman Daniel Levy has no plans of renewing his deal with the club.

With the European Championships postponed until next summer, Rose will be keen to prove a point to England manager Gareth Southgate and for this, he would require the assurance of regular first-team football.

The 29-year-old will be hoping to impress sufficiently in the coming months such that he can secure a permanent deal with the Magpies, who are on the cusp of a £300m takeover from a Saudi-based consortium.
