Barcelona have reportedly given up on bringing Neymar back to Camp Nou this summer, according to Marca.
The Brazilian, who left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, has been long linked with a move back to the LaLiga giants, but a deal has failed to materialize in the past.
Due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Barcelona have ruled out any possibility of re-signing the 28-year-old, who would cost much more than the Blaugrana are willing to spend this summer.
The report goes on to claim that Real Madrid, who were previously linked to Neymar, have also ruled out the possibility of making a move for the forward.
Neymar's current deal with PSG expires in 2022, and the French club have made it clear that they will not entertain any possibility of allowing their star player to leave on a free. But with the hefty price tag slapped on Neymar, it is likely that the forward will remain at Parc des Princes.
Neymar scored 13 goals in the 2019-20 campaign before the Ligue 1 season was curtailed owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Barcelona have been hit hard by the current crisis with the players having taken a 70 per cent wage cut. The Spanish giants are also looking to offload a number of players, including Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, who has struggled to find his footing ever since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund three years ago.
Barcelona have also fallen behind in this year’s LaLiga race, and find themselves a point behind Real Madrid, who travel to Granada on Tuesday.
