Premier League duo Arsenal and Newcastle United have been offered the opportunity to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Brazilian is currently on a season-long loan deal at Bayern Munich where he has caught the eye with nine goals and eight assists in all competitions.

However, the German side have opted against a permanent move for his services and he is set to return to the Camp Nou this summer.

According to Goal.com, the La Liga holders are aiming to offload Coutinho this summer as they aim to recoup funds for the purchase of Lautaro Martinez.

It is added that Arsenal and Newcastle have been informed of the player's availability ahead of the transfer window reopening later this month.

The Gunners are said to be working on a limited budget once more and it is unclear whether they can afford a permanent move for the attacker.

They could explore a loan deal with a future purchase option, but the Blaugrana may be reluctant to accept such a proposal this summer.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are currently on the verge of a takeover from a Saudi-based consortium and that could change their transfer policy.

The Tyneside outfit have been fancied to go on a spending spree and Coutinho is one of the high-profile players under consideration.
