Arsenal could reportedly make an attempt to sign AS Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara, if they are unable to secure the services of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners have earmarked Partey as their number one midfield target but they are said to be reluctant to meet the £45m release clause to land his signature.
They recently came with a £22.5m plus player bid (Matteo Guendouzi) for the Ghanaian, but the offer was swiftly snubbed by Atletico, who have no plans to sell him for less than his buy-out clause.
Hence, the Gunners are looking into potential alternatives and AS Roma Live claims that Diawara is back on their radar for this summer's transfer window.
The Guinea international has been linked with the Gunners over the past few years. He made the move to the Giallorossi last summer following three seasons with the Napoli first-team.
The Rome outfit are experiencing financial losses amid the coronavirus pandemic and the Gunners are hoping to take advantage by making a £22.5m bid for Diawara.
Diawara, who has made 21 league appearances this season, is also on the radar of Leicester City.
