Frank Lampard wants Premier League goalkeeper to replace Kepa

02 August 2020 - 20:48

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has identified Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope as the ideal replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Kepa has been the regular choice in goal since his club-record move from Athletic Bilbao two years ago, but he was recently dropped by Lampard due to his average performances.

According to The Star, Lampard has lost his patience with the Spaniard and has urged the club to pursue a replacement during the ongoing transfer window.

It is added that Pope is the preferred target for Lampard, but the Blues won't get him on the cheap with Burnley set to demand at least £50m for his departure.

Pope had a fantastic 2019/2020 season with the Clarets and he just missed out on the Premier League Golden Glove award to Ederson in the final game of the campaign.

He has been fancied to join a bigger club this summer such that he can enhance his prospects of starting for England at the European Championships next summer.
