It has been revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta convinced the board to shell out for Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey on deadline day.

  • And now Stan Kroenke's role in getting the deal done has been revealed.

    The Independent says Arsenal's American owner sanctioned the signing of the Thomas Partey at the request of Mikel Spanish manager, who Ghanaian midfielder as the perfect addition to his squad this summer.

    It's claimed Stan Kroenke has underwritten the transfer business the Gunners conducted over the summer transfer window and losses incurred due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

    While the Premier League clubs have spoken about tightening their belts due to the pandemic, a total of £1.27 billion was spent in the summer transfer window.

    Thomas Partey has played 188 games for Atletico Madrid. He scored 16 goals and made 12 assists for his teammates. Thomas won the Europe League cup with the Rojiblancos. 

    As for his international, He played 26 matches for Ghana and scored 9 goals.
