Liverpool have received a potential boost with Fabinho having avoided a serious hamstring injury during the Champions League clash against Midtjylland.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Brazilian started at the heart of the defence alongside Joe Gomez on Tuesday night, but he lasted for only 30 minutes before he was forced off the field with a hamstring concern.

According to The Mirror, the injury is not serious as initially feared and the 27-year-old has only suffered a grade one or two tear and that could keep him sidelined for three weeks.

The Merseyside outfit are expected to be without Virgil van Dijk for the rest of the season after a serious knee ligament injury. Elsewhere, Joel Matip has been absent in recent games due to a mysterious muscular problem.

With the setback for Fabinho, the Reds are in a central defensive crisis. Club graduate Rhys Williams partnered Gomez in midweek after Fabinho's injury and he is expected to make his Premier League debut at West Ham United this weekend.
