Arsenal defender David Luiz is set to miss the weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester United after failing to overcome a thigh problem.
The Brazil international sustained the injury at the midway stage of the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Leicester City and he subsequently missed the 3-0 Europa League win over Dundalk on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Arteta said that Luiz was a huge doubt to face the Red Devils and he has now revealed that the experienced defender could be out of action for a while.
"David [Luiz] rarely gets injured, we don’t think it’s a big thing but it’s going to keep him out for a few weeks," He was quoted as saying by The Guardian yesterday.
In the absence of Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi is set to accompany Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the defence. Kieran Tierney could accompany them in case Arteta shifts to a three-man backline.
The Gunners started the Premier League season with two wins on the bounce, but they have since picked up just three points from the next four matches.
