Man Utd prepare Rio contract

15 April 2008 - 11:34

Manchester United are preparing the finishing touches to a new deal for centre back Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand is set to be offered £120,000 a week over five years by Sir Alex Ferguson.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Talks have been ongoing between Ferdinand's representatives and members of Man United's backroom staff, and the deal in principle could be worth up to £31 million for Rio.

The England defender returned from injury to help Man United to victory against Arsenal at the weekend and looks set to lift the title.

The deal will make Ferdinand one of the Premiership's highest paid players.
