Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Thiago Alcantara ahead of the midweek Champions League clash against Atalanta BC.
The Spain international was one of the blockbuster signings of the summer transfer window, but he has yet to establish himself with the Merseyside giants.
Initially, Thiago was ruled out of action after contracting the coronavirus and that has been followed by him picking up a knee injury which he has yet to recover from.
Speaking to reporters, Klopp said that he has no idea when Thiago will return to first-team action, considering he has yet to report for regular training.
"Thiago is not in team training yet. When will he be in team training? I don't know. We will see. I'm as surprised as the public," He was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"In the morning I come in, we have a medical meeting and they tell me 'yes he is in, he is not'. I know it's not too far any more [for Thiago], but I have no idea."
Liverpool recently went within goal difference of leaders Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League after a 3-0 win over Leicester City.
They will now shift their attention to the Champions League where they can seal their round of 16 spot with a win over Atalanta on Wednesday night.
