Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur to miss out on £23m playmaker

24 November 2020 - 20:57

North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to miss out on the signature of Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The Hungarian has been in fine form this term with five goals and nine assists and he has been touted to pursue a fresh challenge in January.

A number of elite sides have been alerted by his £23m release clause, but Football Insider claims that RB Leipzig are genuine favourites to sign him.

Obviously, they have the advantage of being the sister club and are also prepared to loan him back to Salzburg for the rest of the season.

That could prove a potential blow for both Arsenal and Spurs, who are reportedly on the hunt for a creative midfielder in January.

The Gunners were heavily linked with Lyon's Houssem Aouar earlier this summer, but their £35m offer fell short of the £50m asking price.

Elsewhere, Spurs are still on the hunt for a creative player to replace Christian Eriksen, who left for Inter at the midway stage of last season.
