Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Thiago Silva is set to miss the next two games as he recovers from a thigh problem.
The Brazil international suffered the setback during the opening half of the 1-0 Premier League draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The exact nature of the injury was unknown, but Tuchel has now revealed that Silva may only return to face Southampton on February 20.
"We are doing everything and I know Thiago will do everything to be ready as soon as possible," he told club’s official website after the Sheffield United game.
"Thiago, we are fighting every day. He will be for sure out for the FA Cup. It will take several days, but we set the goal for Southampton, that’s maybe realistic but ambitious."Â
Silva has been an excellent addition to the Blues squad this term and he has been a regular in the central defence when fit.Â
He has shown his leadership qualities at the back and was regularly named captain under former boss Frank Lampard.Â
His current contract expires at the end of June, but the Blues are expected to trigger the 12-month extension clause.
