Preview: West Ham vs Derby

Preview: West Ham vs Derby

19 April 2008 - 11:22

It would be hard to argue that this is probably the weekend's most pointless game; West Ham are 7 points off their nearest rival Blackburn in 9th whilst Spurs are three points behind. Derby have been relegated already and eyes are already on Championship preparation.

  • Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Chelsea target
  • Chelsea now want to sign West Ham star after Joao Pedro

  • Lucas Neill (ankle) as well as midfielders Freddie Ljungberg and Mark Noble are all set to return from injury for West Ham.

Julien Faubert may feature after a calf problem but defender Anton Ferdinand is out. West Ham are still without the likes of Kieron Dyer, Daniel Gabbidon, Lee Bowyer, Calum Davenport and Nigel Quashie as they are all out injured until the end of the season with long term injuries.

Darren Leacock is expected to take Darren Moore's place for Derby.

Curbishley wants to finish as high as possible

"We all want to finish as high up as we can, but I also want to take the opportunity to give a few people a go. I have got to see some of them.

"We have got four games now, three of them at home, and so we will be looking at one or two things.

"Last week was a disappointment all round, it was unacceptable that the players did not put in performance and we have to bounce back from that now against Derby.

"It may be that one or two fresh legs and some enthusiasm comes back into it."
