Arsene Wenger has hit out at long-term rival Raymond Domenech. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes France manager Raymond Domenech was wrong to suggest Italy had rigged an Under-21 match by buying off the referee.

Domenech was given a one-day ban after his comments, and claimed that a game between France and Italy may have been fixed in 1999. UEFA imposed the punishment after finding Domenech guilty of “discrediting football”.



When questioned on the incident, Arsene Wenger - who has a very difficult relationship with Domenech - said, "Personally I didn’t appreciate it. I believe managers have a form of responsibility to calm things down before matches."
