Bordeaux not giving up yet

Bordeaux not giving up yet

20 April 2008 - 20:06

Bordeaux managed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Toulouse on Sunday in their lofty ambitions to deny Ligue1 rivals Lyon their seventh consecutive French league title.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • It was Johan Micoud who was the hero for Bordeaux, after he grabbed a stoppage time goal to give Girondins a 1-0 victory.

Ulrich Rame was in inspired form in the Bordeaux goal, denying efforts from Johan Elmander, Albin Ebondo and Jeremy Mathieu.

The winning goal from Frenchman Micoud came just as the referee looked to be reaching for his whistle; Gabriel Obertan made a superb pass from the right into the path of Micoud who fired home past Douchez.

Bordeaux are now only four points off Lyon who are still sitting comfortably in top spot, but Bordeaux will now be keen to take the chase to the wire.
