Everton confirmed the signing of Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon on a free transfer on deadline day.
The marksman previously played in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United.
During this time with the Magpies, he worked under Rafael Benitez. The duo were reunited again at Dalian.
It was claimed that Benitez may eye another reunion, and things came into place before the transfer deadline.
Rondon, who was on loan at CSKA Moscow last season, made the move to the Toffees on a free transfer.
He is unlikely to be a regular for the club with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being an undisputed starter upfront.
However, he will offer Benitez a like-for-like replacement for the England international from the substitutes' bench.
Calvert-Lewin has struggled with knocks. There could be occasions where Rondon is tasked to lead the line.
Rondon was brought to fill the void left by Moise Kean, who made the return to Juventus on a two-year loan.
