Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Paul Pogba's contract situation with a view to a potential transfer next summer, Marca reports.
The Frenchman has less than eight months left on his Manchester United deal. He can discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.
Paris Saint-Germain and former club Juventus are weighing up offers, but Marca claims that Los Blancos are ready to join the pursuit.
They have been long-term admirers of the World Cup winner, and previously tried to sign him before he rejoined the Red Devils in 2016.
The club have since made tentative enquiries without success. They are now prepared to negotiate a contract with the 28-year-old this winter.
Los Blancos are also interested in Aurelien Tchoumeni of Monaco, but Paul Pogba is considered as the ideal transfer target for them.
He has been identified as an immediate replacement for Luka Modric, who could head for the exit door after a decade of service.
