Motta to sign new Atletico deal

Injury prone midfielder Thiago Motta has revealed he is close to agreeing a deal with his current club Atletico Madrid. The midfielder signed from Barcelona in the summer and has not seen much first-team action due to injury.

“I have spoken with Miguel Angel and we are looking to renew my existing deal but there a few minor issues which need to be resolved first,” Motta told AS.



“I hope I can continue to recover because I would like to come back and help the team do well next season.



“I feel much better and so far I haven’t noticed any problems with my knee, I just hope it continues this way.



“It’s going to be tough to make the Champions League but we all know that this team has enough quality to reach its objectives.



“We just have to stay calm and focused and continue to do well.”
