Chelsea striker open to joining Bundesliga giants

03 March 2022 - 20:23

Chelsea striker Timo Werner is open to joining Borussia Dortmund amid his reduced game time with the Blues.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The German has been with the west London giants for the past 20 months, but he has yet to revive his form from his Leipzig days.

Werner bagged a stunning tally of 34 goals and 13 assists from 45 games during his final campaign at Leipzig in 2019/2020.

Since his move to London, he has been pretty disappointing with just 19 goals and 19 assists from 76 appearances in all competitions.

While the statistics appear decent, he has been prone to missing several clear-cut chances. He is no longer a guaranteed starter.

According to Goal, the 25-year-old is willing to push for a move away from the Blues after learning of the transfer interest from Dortmund.

Werner is said to welcome a potential return to Bundesliga. Dortmund see him as an alternative to Red Bull Salzburg's Karim Adeyemi.

The Blues signed him for €53m in 2020, but Dortmund are unlikely to meet that price. Instead, they could propose an initial season-long loan.
