Manchester United to work on £50m summer budget?

06 March 2022 - 20:19

Manchester United could be working on an initial budget of around £50m if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Red Devils have endured a difficult campaign to date, and they are currently one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal with three games in hand.

Hence, their Champions League destiny is no longer in their own hands, and this could impact their spending activity during the summer.

According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils hierarchy will permit a budget of just £50m if the club fail to qualify for the elite competition.

However, that could rise to around £80m if they succeed. Whatever happens, the next manager will need to recoup more funds from sales.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly are among high-profile players linked with possible departures this summer.

The main concern could be the lack of transfer offers. United may not recoup sufficient funds unless they are willing to lower their valuations.
