Ralf Rangnick reacts to Bruno Fernandes contract renewal

01 April 2022 - 21:05

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has expressed his pleasure after Bruno Fernandes signed a new long-term deal with the club.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • The Portuguese has been a revelation since his move from Sporting two years ago. He has registered over 80 goal contributions for United.

Hence, an improved contract seemed a no-brainer and the Red Devils have now officially confirmed that he has penned a new deal until June 2026.

Speaking in a press conference today, Rangnick said that the extension is 'very good news' for the club as well as the supporters as a whole.

The German added that Fernandes is undoubtedly a 'very important player'.

He said: "I think that's very good news for the club, for the fans, the supporters also for Bruno to know he will be here for the next five years."

"There is no doubt he is a very important player for this club and this team. That's great news."

Fernandes has struggled for consistency this campaign, but has still bagged an impressive tally of nine goals and 14 assists for the Red Devils.

The 27-year-old will be pivotal for the club over the next eight weeks as they look to qualify for the Champions League via a top-four league finish.
