Manchester United have their sights on pursuing Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer, Portuguese outlet A Bola claims.
The Red Devils recently appointed Erik ten Hag as their next permanent manager. He will officially take charge at the end of the season.
The Dutchman has the knack for working with young players with potential. Nunez has now been identified as one of the club's top priorities.
Nunez has been in exceptional form for the Portuguese giants this campaign, bagging 33 goals and four assists from just 38 appearances.
Benfica valued him at around £50 million at the beginning of the year, but reports have emerged that they now want close to £84m.
United are not alone in the pursuit of the player. Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are among high-profile teams keeping track.
Champions League football could be essential to luring him. It is unclear whether United can qualify for the competition next season.
They are presently three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Both clubs have a game in hand over them.
