Liverpool make transfer decision on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

20 June 2022 - 20:45

Liverpool have decided to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the final year of his contract.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The England international was used sparingly by manager Jurgen Klopp last term, and it was claimed that he could push for an exit.

A price tag of around £10m was mentioned earlier this month, but Liverpool Echo cites that the Reds are no longer looking to sell him.

The club have postponed their plans for a central midfielder until next summer, and hence don\'t want to lose the services of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The news could be a potential blow for West Ham United, who were looking to prise him away. The club were open to playing him in attack.

It remains to be seen how Oxlade-Chamberlain reacts to the decision. He is unlikely to make the World Cup with his current lack of game time.

The 28-year-old has not played for his country since November 2019, and a comeback looks far away unless he starts playing regularly.
